Congratulations to Kathryn Simpson: A Three-Time Winner of the Consultants Club!

We are thrilled to celebrate Kathryn Simpson as a three-time winner of the CCN Consultants Club! Her continuous dedication, skill, and impact have solidified her as a leading consultant in our community. Kathryn’s success is a reflection of her professionalism and commitment, and we are proud to recognize her outstanding achievements.

Kathryn’s Journey into Consulting: From Passion to Expertise

Kathryn’s career in accounting started at a young age. She recalls, “I had an aunt who was a CPA, and I just looked up to her so much as a kid,” she shares. This early inspiration led her to pursue a degree in accounting, and after graduating from Texas A&M, she set her sights on Austin, where she joined EY before spending over seven years at American Campus Communities.

But life took a new turn for Kathryn when she became a mother during the 2020 pandemic lockdown. “It was a big transition,” she admits. “I had a premature baby during the lockdown, and I realized that my previous full-time job wasn’t a fit anymore for my family.” After taking time off, Kathryn found that consulting offered a path to balance her professional and personal aspirations, without sacrificing either.

“I reached out to CCN after I realized I wanted flexibility in my career,” Kathryn explains. “I think there’s a stigma around consulting, like you’ll get thrown into a role and not know what to do, but that’s not the case at all. CCN does a really good job of matching us with clients that align with our skills.”

Transitioning to Consulting: Flexibility and Growth

Kathryn’s transition into consulting wasn’t without its challenges, but she found the flexibility offered by CCN to be a game-changer. “It’s the flexibility that really makes consulting work for me,” she says. “I’m still working with a huge tech client, which allows me to learn from some of the biggest systems, like Oracle and Fusion, and then I get to apply that knowledge in real-world situations. But I also have the time to focus on my family and do the things I enjoy.”

For Kathryn, the variety and learning opportunities have been key to her success. “One month I can be doing end-of-month close tasks, and then the next month I might be collaborating with engineers to build accounting software,” she says. “The diversity of work keeps me engaged and always learning something new.”

Finding Balance: How Consulting Aligns with Kathryn’s Life

What stands out most in Kathryn’s journey is her ability to balance her professional growth with her personal life. “I walk my son to school every morning, I pick him up every day with his bike. I could have never done that in the full-time world,” Kathryn reflects. As a part-time consultant, she has the freedom to embrace her family life while still challenging herself professionally.

Outside of work, Kathryn loves staying active and exploring new places. “We’re big foodies, so we’re always trying new restaurants,” she shares. “And travel is still something I look forward to—it’s like you have to have the next trip booked to give you something to work towards. Last year, I went to Paris for a girls’ trip to see Taylor Swift, which was amazing!”

Her love of family is evident, and it’s something that consulting with CCN has allowed her to prioritize. “I’m constantly growing professionally, but being able to spend time with my son and be present in his life means everything to me,” she says.

Congratulations on Another Well-Deserved Achievement, Kathryn!

Kathryn’s journey reflects the true spirit of what it means to thrive as a consultant—balancing professional excellence with personal fulfillment. Her ability to grow and succeed in a flexible environment speaks to her dedication and skill. We’re excited to celebrate Kathryn’s third win in the Consultants Club and look forward to her continued success. Congratulations, Kathryn, on this incredible achievement! We are proud to have you as part of the CCN community.
