Consultant Spotlight: Lissa Jackson

Congratulations to Lissa Jackson, one of this year’s inductees into the CCN Consultants Club! She’ll be headed to the “CCN-vitational” on an all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas in May!

Meet Lissa Jackson

Lissa is one of the most persistent and dogged accountants you’ll ever meet. Her superpower is fixing accounting problems that no one else can solve. She’s done that by always asking one key question: “Does this make sense?”

Lissa began her 40+ year career by writing financial data onto columnar pads. “The one I had to use was about two and a half feet wide by three feet wide,” she says. “I had to take two of them together and put everything on it… you did it all by hand.”

As accounting moved onto desktop computer systems, Lissa has maintained what she calls a “degree of healthy distrust.”

“Consistency is not the same as correctness. You can have the same thing done by a computer or a human, month after month, and it can be wrong every month.”

Living the consultant dream

Lissa married her high school sweetheart 48 years ago and still enjoys traveling with him today. She also often travels with their daughter. Last summer, they took a class together at Oxford University.

Her interest in medieval European history has led her to visit England five times and Germany last year.

This year, she’s combining her love of learning and reading murder mysteries and action thrillers by taking another course at Oxford on 20th-century detective novels.

Lissa makes the Consultants Club!

After three years with CCN, Lissa has racked up over 5,000 billable hours with a single client — someone she actually knows from her years at Dell. That’s earned her a place in the Consultants Club and a trip to Vegas for two!

She’s looking forward to “parking by a pool with a book” (a mystery, no doubt!) and seeing some shows as part of her all-expenses-paid trip.

Congratulations, Lissa!
